So in the efforts of trying to have something posted each day I present to you a mini thought about the upcoming playoff match between Real Salt Lake and Sounders FC. I kind of mentioned the tough centre backs up the middle in Olave and Boarchers. They’re kind of brutish in my opinion, still nonetheless very capable and very good. We can talk about their physical presence will have an effect on the game.
Guys like this will often been the subtle and possibly transparent parts of the game. But, the eye test is going to be with the likes of Javier Morales in the CAM type position. Morales is simply in the elite tier of play makers within Major League Soccer. His ability to provide service and to be the on the beginning end of so many goals is one of the many reasons to fear him.
What really troubles me about him and the fact that he is going to be out there on the pitch for RSL is his pairing with. Just as Real Salt Lake got lucky to not have to face Eddie Johnson, the Sounders were equally lucky to not have Saborio out there with Morales.
I haven’t seen much in the way of RSL but my understanding is that Morales is to them as Rosales is to the Sounders… only more so. He’s creative and has an engine, that as Ross Fletcher mentioned in his scouting report, doesn’t give up or slow down.
These are just a few things that I’m thinking about going into the game.
